Jessica graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Mathematics (Applied Discrete option) and a minor in Computer Science in 2008, then graduated again from Virginia Tech with an M.S. in Mathematics in 2009. She's been a faculty member in the VT math department ever since! Go Hokies! Her favorite courses to teach are Applied Combinatorics and Graph Theory (MATH 3134) and Discovering Mathematics I & II (MATH 1004-1044).

Jessica is especially passionate about her role as an academic advisor and is now the department’s Undergraduate Advising Coordinator. In this role, she is a member of the Central Advising Team (which supports all mathematics students and faculty advisors), she chairs and is a member of the lower-division advising team, and is also a summer orientation advisor.

Fun facts:

  • She LOVES spending every minute that she can with her daughter who was born in 2019.
  • Her husband's name is Jesse... so they are Jess and Jesse.
  • She has a dog with the body of a corgi and the face of a lab.
  • She likes to hula hoop, cross-stitch, and upcycle furniture. But right now her main hobby is chasing a toddler who is chasing a dog.
