Lesson Sample, Template, and Presentation Logistics
This workshop culminates in a lesson plan for implementing Research-Based Instruction (RBI). On Day 4, your group will present a lesson outline. Here, we provide a RBI Lesson Template along with a Sample RBI Unit, on Proof by Mathematical Induction. We also proive (below) logistics for the 20-minute presentations.
Use the Sample RBI Template (linked below) to create a document you will present on Day 4. Explicitly identify:
- Learning Objectives
- 1 norm & 1 heuristic
- 1 EO your lesson might elicit and begin to address
- Tasks & their learning goals (expected student reasoning, key ideas to address in whole-class discussion, etc)
- How your lesson might support students’ development of logical structures (e.g., LI as an object)
See the RBI Sample Unit on PMI linked below for an example.
