Professor Renardy's research has focused on the mathematical theory of viscoelastic flows. In this context, he has investigated issues of existence, stability, asymptotics, and controllabililty. He has also worked on other problems in fluid dynamics, such as stability, pattern formation, and numerical simulation of interfacial flows, and controllability of compressible flows.
