This work concerns a ferromagnetic fluid, a stable colloidal system consisting of small solid surfactant-coated ferromagnetic particles dispersed in a liquid carrier. The effect of a tangential magnetic field is found to be stabilizing and can be used to postpone the instability of such a flow.
