Title: On Computational challenges in feedback control of PDEs

Abstract: In this talk we discuss some of the many computational challenges in optimal feedback control of partial differential equations. This includes properties of numerical schemes that guarantee convergence of functional gains as well as mesh-independence principles for a Newton-based solver for the Riccati equations. We illustrate the use of functional gains and system radii for optimal sensor placement and discuss the computational challenges associated with the control problems.

If time permits, we will discuss an algorithm for solving a Riccati equation arising in H-control using sensitivity analysis.

This talk will be accessible to a general audience.
