Title: Ingham type theorems
Abstract
We report on some joint works with C. Baiocchi and P. Loreti.
In 1936 Ingham improved a previous result of Wiener on nonharmonic
Fourier series. Modifying his weight function we obtain optimal results
improving several earlier theorems of Kahane and Beurling, among
others. Our approach reveals a formerly hidden link with the
variational characterization of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian
operator. Our results can also be applied to solve various
observability problems.
