Title: Large Eddy Simulation - An Overview
Abstract
Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is one of the most successful techniques in
the numerical simulation of turbulent flows. LES aims at capturing the
large scale features of the flow while modeling the interaction between
these large scales and the small (uncaptured) scales. The relatively
reduced computational cost and increased accuracy make LES the method
of choice in many important applications in engineering and geophysics.
In this talk we will present an LES overview, including the mathematical
derivation, aspects related to the numerical implementation, numerical
results, and applications.
