I am an associate professor in the
Department of Mathematics at
Virginia Tech. I am also a member of
the Interdisciplinary Center for Applied
Mathematics.
I am on sabbatical for 2008-2009.ResearchSpringer's web site for our book.
My research has been centered around using mathematics in realistic scientific and engineering applications. This encompasses different areas, from mathematical modeling to parallel computing, and from numerical analysis to experimental science. The interdisciplinary applications that I have worked on lately include geophysical flows (gravity currents as in the movie above) and flow control. Multiscale modeling and simulation is essential to both applications. For a complete description of my research, please visit my research web page . Software DevelopmentViTLES is a parallel, finite element computational platform for the validation and testing of LES models.
