Faculty Position in Mathematics
Education at Virginia Tech
The
Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professorship in mathematics education.
Responsibilities of this
position will include: teaching mathematics content and pedagogy courses
for
prospective K-12 teachers of mathematics; advising undergraduate
students in
secondary mathematics education; advising, teaching, and supervising
mathematics education graduate students; carrying out and publishing
research
in mathematics education; seeking external support for scholarly
activities;
providing service to the department, university, and community; and
participating in national and international professional organizations.
By the time of
appointment,
candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in mathematics education (or
closely
related field) with a strong background in mathematics. Preference will
be
given to candidates with a masters degree or equivalent in mathematics.
Applicants should have an excellent record or potential for scholarly
publications and external funding in mathematics education, as well as a
strong
commitment to teaching and advising.
