TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Virginia Tech Department of
Mathematics
Integral Calculus: Math 1206
Taught
with full responsibility, including determining and grading assignments,
developing tests, holding office hours, and assigning course grades. Part of
the freshman sequence for students in engineering, building construction,
chemistry, computer science, geological sciences, mathematics, physics, and
statistics. Topics included integration, numerical integration, integral
calculus with applications, definite integrals, indefinite integrals, areas and
volumes , Spring 2008
Integral
Calculus: Math 1206, Fall 2007
Elem Cal W/Trig: Math 2015
Taught with full responsibility, including determining
and grading assignments, developing tests, holding office hours, and assigning
course grades. Topics included numerical
integration, integral calculus with applications, antiderivatives, definite
integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calc, Trigonometric calculus, indefinite
integrals, areas and volumes, multivariable differential calculus and
elementary differential equations. This course includes a weekly one hour lab
using Excel at the Math Emporium, Spring 2007.
Differential Calculus, Math 1205
Differential calculus for functions of a single
variable. Part of the freshman sequence for students in engineering, building
construction, chemistry, computer science, geological sciences, mathematics,
physics, and statistics. Taught with full responsibility, including determining
and grading assignments, developing tests, holding office hours, and assigning
course grades. Topics included limits,
continuity, differentiation, applications of differentiation of functions of a
single variable as well as integrating technology and instructing on the basics
of MATLAB and Mathematica, Fall 2006.
Mathematics Tutor
Assisted students from a wide range of mathematics
courses, including linear algebra, differential and integral calculus, and
differential equations at the Math Emporium, a campus computer facility. Also proctored on-line tests and quizzes,
August 2004 – Summer 2006.
Mathematics Private Tutor, Virginia Tech, 2004-present.
Tutored many students in
mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry and economics, mostly in mathematics.
Tutored students for periods ranging from one time only (preparation for a
test) to as long as a year (as a stand-in teacher for online courses), including algebra, calculus, numerical
analysis, and classes involving rigorous mathematical proofs: Elem Cal W/Trig,
Elementary Linear Algebra, Calculus, Vector Geometry, Calculus with Matrices,
Intro Diff Equations, Multivariable Calculus, Intro Discrete Math, Modern Algebra,
Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus, Numerical Methods, Fourier series and PDE,
Intro to numerical Analysis, Operational Methods.
